As the founder and DJ of Ω : OVERTONE, Gräber also designs and builds the event’s VRChat worlds, expressing Schranz’s raw, industrial aesthetic through both music and space.

Gräber also studies Schranz and German cultural history, exploring the historical context behind the music and its relationship with contemporary techno culture.

TECHNO

Starting out with Big Room Techno, I gradually found my way into the world of Techno. Ever since hearing Setaoc Mass DJ for the first time, I’ve been drawn to digging deeper into Minimal and Hypnotic sounds.

I’m fascinated by the feeling of consciousness dissolving into sound, losing yourself in the music as it unfolds. Through my sets, I aim to share that same immersive experience with listeners and take them on a journey into the same sonic landscape.

**How I Got Started as a DJ**

Both my journey as a DJ and my discovery of Schranz began with rhythm games. I first encountered Schranz through the track “dynamo” by Hidra Xjeil in the rhythm game *VOEZ*. At the time, I mainly listened to Hardcore, especially J-Core. As I started attending DJ events featuring rhythm game composers, I became inspired to select and play tracks myself, wanting to experience the excitement of sharing music through powerful sound systems.

While exploring different tracks to discover which genres I truly enjoyed, I eventually fell in love with Schranz. That passion continues to drive me as a DJ today.

04 / THE IMAGE & ITS MEANING

WHY WE USE THE PHOTO “LEAP OF FREEDOM”

The motif “Leap to Freedom” was chosen for Gräber, an event centered on Schranz, a hard techno genre originating in Germany. It connects Germany’s historical background with the ideals of freedom and expression embodied in electronic music.

During the division of Germany, the Berlin Wall restricted freedom of movement, and some people risked their lives attempting to cross it in pursuit of freedom. The “Leap to Freedom” symbolizes this historical struggle for freedom and the determination to overcome imposed restrictions.

Following the fall of the Berlin Wall, Berlin’s techno culture flourished amid broader social transformation. Clubs and dance floors became spaces where people gathered through music, fostering new forms of expression and community. The repetitive beats and immersive nature of techno, combined with Schranz’s intense rhythms and powerful sound, create a physical experience of liberation from the constraints of everyday life.

This event draws a parallel between crossing physical barriers in history and transcending established boundaries and conventions through music. By connecting German history, the openness of techno culture, and the raw energy of Schranz, “Leap to Freedom” serves as a symbol linking the historical pursuit of freedom with the contemporary experience of liberation through music.
